Customized Merchandise

Together with bestselling author M.L. Rio, I dreamed up these personalized gravestone pillows, adorned with 3D mushrooms and a sneaky rat backing, to promote her 2024 novella Graveyard Shift.

The pieces were raffled off throughout M.L. Rio’s promotional book tour, and the raffle winners selected initials to emblazon their headstones. I drafted the pattern for the tombstones myself using the handy tools over at Stitch Fiddle. The full collection included an extra-large pillow and seven smaller customized pillows.

The entire project took months to complete and remains one of my all-time favs! I loved working with the author on crafting something totally unique that captures the spirit of her book and drummed up excitement around its launch.

Colorful Vintage Granny Square Blanket

Taking granny squares to the next level with 3D details, this colorful blanket was a delight to work on. Paired with the loveliest, bounciest, softest hand-washed Merino wool I could find, this cozy and cheerful 70’s inspired blanket is easy to wash and care for, making it an instant heirloom.

The construction of this king-size blanket included stitching 54 individual squares and a customized layout to balance the overall color scheme, as well as colorful border flourish to tie things together.

It is endlessly satisfying to turn a beautiful basket of lovingly crafted yarn into a tall pile of squares, then into a messy patchwork with loose ends at every turn, and finally, transforming it into its polished final form.

Lookalike Stuffed Toys

One of my favorite kinds of commissions, these lovable minis of beloved pets are such a joy to make. A fun toy for kiddos or a cherished tribute to a beloved pet, this is a gift that can be enjoyed by all.

Designing and constructing these adorable pieces includes collecting and analyzing source images to get a sense for the subject, as well as identifying the yarn that’s “just right” to honor the pet’s unique coat and creating a custom pattern to capture the pet’s proportions, markings, and features exactly placed.

As a dog mom myself, these pieces are so meaningful to me, and I hope, to their recipients as well. The look of surprise, recognition, and adoration in the eyes of the recipients is worth every minute of stitching.

Stackable Hedgehog Toy

An interactive toy to engage the brain as well as the senses, the stackable hedgehog toy is both a snuggly stuffed toy and a game all in one. Rings of diminishing size invite kids to stack the pieces together to create an adorable hedgehog friend.

By far one of the most time-consuming projects in my repertoire, this little gal is also undeniably entertaining, even for adults! With three stackable rings and topper, all detailed with over 100 individually made “spikes,” my fingers were certainly feeling the burn. Compression gloves go a long way when putting together something so complex, a support I highly recommend to any fiber arts maker.

After I finished this piece, I wasn’t sure I’d endeavor such a feat again. However, I also often find myself wondering how cute it this design would look with rainbow spikes…
