About the Artist

With some yarn and a simple hook, we can build something amazing. 

When I was growing up, my Nana Margarita would visit from Mexico City once a year, from September to November. She was a stern woman, who could chasten a troupe of teenagers with a single glower, but cared for the ones she loved with the utmost tenderness. She was a wizard with a crochet hook, conjuring up entire blankets and beautiful delicate doilies from her spot on the couch, like magic.

Her creativity, skill and diligence were enviable, and as a kid I became obsessed with learning how to crochet with her. Little did I know we were making heirlooms I would treasure for the rest of my life, and one day give to my own children.

That is the magic of crochet, the stitches are not just made up of yarn, but of memory, love, and dedication.
